Breaking Light

A winter sunset on a run through Moses Lake

There are something about sunsets that sing to my soul.

Absolutely breathtaking.

I love that moment when the sun breaks open wide -- spilling and filling the entire horizon

              with an explosion of light.

The rays illuminate the foreground -- a holy kiss of light and depth and warmth.

All is changed and new . . . seared with a golden edge.

That's my favorite color -- that sunset glowing orangey-yellow gold.

When the light breaks, you feel like you could run a million miles.

Just think . . . when we're splashed wet in our baptismal waters . . .
                                               we begin to glow.

Like seriously glow.

Our faces are changed.  Instead of the sin . . . we shine with Jesus.

Have you ever met someone who glowed Jesus?  So much so -- you were taken aback.  Perhaps had to catch your breath . . . or close your eyes . . . or take a peek closer to see . . . really see . . .

         . . . . the mystery of it all.

"Who are you?!" you think to yourself.

                          "How . . . ?"

                                                Whoa.

And you can't do much . . . except smile.

                          And know.

"Hey.  You must live Jesus.  Jesus must live in you."

                  For sure.

Or maybe you've been the one.

(Sometimes we see it.  Sometimes we don't.)

But sometimes -- we glow Jesus.

It's pretty incredible when it happens.   All breaking light and such.

And when two glowing Jesus people collide -- and you notice it --

-- you could run a million miles.

So our faces are not covered.  They show the bright glory of the Lord, as the Lord's Spirit makes us more and more like our glorious Lord.  -- 2 Corinthians 3:18 Contemporary English Version

We're free of it!  All of us!  Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face.  And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.  -- 2 Corinthians 3:18 The Message

  2. I'm glad you're writing more now. I can appreciate someone with their head in the clouds 'cause if you ask me, that's right where it should be! Amen y'all?
